Weekly status update [0002/????]

This week was quite a bit quieter than last week, which was already pretty mellow.  Those of you expecting a ton of slice-of-life updates in this blog’s future are going to be pretty disappointed.  Unless you really want to read about me solving puzzles, playing Let It Die, watching some Netflix and the occasional videogame stream on Twitch, and going to bed.  There, congratulations, that’s the slice-of-life for the past two weeks, all in one paragraph!

Ahem.

I already wrote a post about signing up for COBRA, which was the biggest thing I did all week.  Other than that, I:

  • Opened up Giles’ source code, thinking about doing some leisure coding on it, and went “nope”;
  • Thought about cleaning up one of my old short stories for posting here, and went “nope”;
  • Thought about getting my tires replaced on my car, and went “nope”.

I think I’ll want to do all of those things sooner rather than later, but for the time being I’m honestly loving the low-involvement lifestyle and I’d be lying if I said otherwise.

do sorely miss playing board games every day at lunch.  I love board games and I don’t get to play them anywhere near as frequently now, which makes me sad.  If any of you readers would be up for some Tabletop Simulator, or Giles, just let me know.  I’m available, uh, whenever, I guess.

Still not bored, though, and in no danger of becoming so.  That’s important, because if everything goes according to plan, that week counter is going to go into quadruple digits.

    1. I’ve streamed on Twitch a bit, but it’s been ages. I might do so again. It’s http://twitch.tv/sunfalltoennien if you want to follow me, and I’ll almost certainly post a blog entry here before I do anything. It’d be some retro game or another… or maybe Axiom Verge again.

      Mostly I watch speedrunners do their thing, because I find it fascinating. I also recently started watching Landail’s “RPG Quest”, where he’s playing through every English console RPG in chronological order, mostly because the conversation is good. He just beat Super Mario RPG tonight, which was a lot of fun to kibitz.

      1. I need to finish Axiom Verge at some point. I dug it but got distracted about half way through by another game.

        “…[h]e’s playing through every English console RPG…” That’s impressive and terrifying to me as someone with a completest streak in certain areas of my life. Followed because that is just a great concept for a stream.

        I play Spelunky semi-regularly (always poorly) at https://www.twitch.tv/37thstreet with my friend Paul ( https://www.twitch.tv/neoexmaster ). We usually chat while playing but occasionally (like this week) forget to turn the Mic on. The proceeding sentence should give a sense of how seriously we take it.

        1. I feel that Axiom Verge is the best “Metroidvania” that’s been made in ages. I highly recommend going back to it and finishing it.

          I’ve added you to my follows. See you soon there! I actually did some streaming last night, mostly of Let It Die. I might do some more direct-from-PS4 streaming soon, since it’s so easy.

          1. Despite the sci-fi setting, Axiom Verge reminded me of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night which is to my mind the highest praise possible for a Metroidvania game. I’ll definitely get back to Axiom Verge. This conversation has moved it up the list.
